On a Saturday morning, residents from our Eldercare Diaper Program and SASCO@Khatib Befriending Program, along with other neighborus, gathered to thoroughly clean our new home. The Town Council also contributed by sending two of their cleaners to assist us. By working together, we were able to complete the task quickly and enjoyed conversations over coffee and tea.

As neighbors, can we become friends? Regardless of whether someone is a recipient or beneficiary of a program we support, we consider them our neighbors and hope to build friendships with them. We offer support to one another in various ways, such as cleaning our shared facilities or connecting friends in need to the numerous resources available in Singapore.

During our coffee session, one of our neighbors shared the different forms of assistance she received from the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) and expressed a desire to help eligible neighbours apply for these forms of aid. We have come to realise that those in need are often unaware or unable to access the many supportive services provided by governmental and non-governmental organisations.

Motivated by this understanding, we are determined to expand our efforts and reach out to families in need. Our goal is to actively connect them with the available resources and support systems. By doing so, we hope to alleviate their challenges and improve their overall well-being. Together, as a united community, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our neighboyrs who require assistance.

With our newfound responsibility of managing the Resident’s Corner, which includes access to various storage cabinets, tables, seats, and a toilet, we enthusiastically encourage our neighbours to utilise these facilities for the betterment of our community.
